A product designed by HANNspree for manufacture by HannStar Display Corporation, HookPhone has received the iF Design Award. It was selected from almost 11,000 entries by a jury of 88 international design experts in this year’s judging.

HookPhone is a mobile phone with a 2.4-inch display and D-ring clip. It’s designed for emergency use when the user’s primary mobile phone has been lost, broken, or run out of battery. It’s especially useful for keeping adventure enthusiasts, hikers, climbers, and campers safe in wild.

The clip-on design allows users to attach the phone to their backpack or waist belt. GPS and cellular connectivity enable them to transmit their position when in need of rescue. Their heart rate, body temperature, and blood oxygen levels can also be monitored by rescuers, remotely.
